The Riverina Compendium provides information for those secondary school students who have an interest in a career in agriculture. This includes students at speciality agricultural high schools like Yanco Agricultural High School as well as those schools in the Riverina teaching Agriculture or Primary Industry subjects.

The Riverina Compendium will assist secondary level students, interested in a career in agriculture, in identification of work experience and employment opportunities within agribusiness in the Riverina. It also provides information on career pathways into vocational and university training.

Principal's Message

The Riverina Compendium is a major new initiative aimed at providing relevant and current information on work experience and employment opportunities in the region along with useful information on course options of a vocational nature and a range of universities.

Chair's Message

It gives me great pleasure to have seen the Compendium grow, from an idea based on a similar document in south Australia, to what I am sure will be a highly valuable resource for teachers, students and business in the Riverina.

Business Directory

This section of the Compendium contains information about participating agribusinesses within the Riverina.

The businesses listed in this section have agreed to collaborate with schools in the Riverina teaching Agriculture or Primary Industries courses. This includes options for students to undertake work experience, for businesses to identify opportunities for employment after secondary schooling to contribute, where possible, to careers activities such as workshops, field days and AgVision.

There is a separate section for businesses outside the Riverina who are interested in either providing work experience for students or employment opportunities. The inclusion of additional businesses to this Compendium is welcomed. Please contact: yanconianscommunity@gmail.com

Vocational training

The concept of flexible industry pathways to employment maps out a student's journey through secondary school to employment. Each pathway provides an industry-endorsed conduit to employment; better preparing young people for real-world jobs and providing a pipeline of young skilled workers for employment.

University training

This section of the Compendium identifies options for students to undertake training at a university that can lead to a range of employment opportunities in areas such as agricultural research, advisory, regulator or policy within a government agency or the private sector.
