Principal's Message

The Riverina Compendium is a major new initiative aimed at providing relevant and current information on work experience and employment opportunities in the region along with useful information on course options of a vocational nature and a range of universities.

The direct engagement of the agribusiness sector adds a dimension not previously available to schools. Major agribusiness companies have provided information on their willingness to accept students for work experience with a longer term interest in employing students on leaving school.

Many of these businesses are looking for employees who have practical skills and a willingness to learn vocational skills. The importance of the collaboration between these businesses, vocational training opportunities and people they employ is a major strength of the Compendium.

I sincerely thank the Old Yanconians' Union and Foundation for initiating this project, for the Foundation and Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia for funding the work and the assistance provided by Regional Development Australia, Charles Sturt University, TAFE and AgriFutures.

The staff at Yanco Agricultural High School look forward to working with the Compendium and supporting schools throughout the Riverina in gaining maximum value from the Compendium.
